A New Solution to NYC Parking

While New York City parking may be difficult, parking companies are doing all they can to accommodate as many vehicles as possible. One of the latest and most remarkable innovations in the parking industry in recent years is the automated parking system. These structures allow for a maximization of space by lifting cars and stacking them sometimes as high as seven stories. All a driver parking in New York City has to do is enter a garage and proceed into an entrance bay. When the driver leaves, an integrated motion control system implements in advanced set of independently operating robots to move the vehicle to an open parking spot.

A new automated parking garage operating as discussed above was recently installed in the SoHo South district of New York. The NoLita, Baxter Street parking project is one of the more upscale solutions for New York City parking; however, it is indicative of the progressive approaches city parking organizations are taking to try to improve New York City parking. On the Eastside of Manhattan, on 24th St., a traditional, multi-level parking structure is being converted into an automated garage which will be open to private and public residents. At 275 Seabreeze Ave., a 132-car facility is under construction in Brooklyn, and it too will implement an automated parking system.

New York City parking, like parking in Boston and parking in Chicago, has never been an easy task. Thankfully, parking services are recognizing the demand for parking in the Big Apple and are beginning to make drastic changes. Parking lots in the city that do not have multi-story solutions are turning to less expensive lift solutions. These hydraulic-powered structures allow two and sometimes three cars to fit into a space that only one car would occupy.
